During his extensive 35-year tenure in building safety, Lynn Underwood not only led and supervised teams across several states and countries but also pioneered the integration of innovative construction materials and sustainable practices into building codes. His forward-thinking approach included advocating for the use of cargo containers as buildings, straw bale construction, green building techniques, and grey water systems. His efforts extended to promoting deconstruction over demolition, material re-use, and the application of various forms of adobe, demonstrating his commitment to environmentally responsible building practices alongside his leadership and technical expertise.
